The Powerball jackpot, one of the biggest ever, has gotten even bigger, reaching $1.73 billion.

This happened because nobody picked the winning numbers in Monday's lottery drawing.

The upcoming drawing on Wednesday night will have the second-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

This happens a lot in Mega Millions and Powerball lotteries because they've made changes to the games and raised ticket prices over time.

This summer, two separate tickets won billion-dollar jackpots:

In California, on July 19, when a Powerball ticket won $1.08 billion, and then in Florida, on Aug. 9

when a single ticket won a Mega Millions jackpot of $1.58 billion.

Also The upcoming Wednesday night drawing will offer the second-largest jackpot ever in the United States.
